None of our bags need much. A few habits keep them looking like the day they arrived, and one or two will make them look better than that.
Leather (The Belgravia)
Leather is a living material. Keep it from prolonged direct sun and heavy rain. If it gets wet, blot gently and let it dry naturally, away from radiators. Condition lightly once or twice a year with a neutral cream. The creases, the deepening of colour and the soft sheen that arrive with use are not wear. They are the point.
Leather look finishes (The Demilune, The Antibes)
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For a mark, use a cloth that is barely damp, then let it dry naturally. Keep perfume, hand cream and sanitiser off the surface, because alcohol dulls it. Do not leave it against dark denim for long on a hot day; dye transfers.
Open weave (The Deauville, The Antibes)
Reshape by hand after a full day, and store lightly stuffed with tissue so the weave keeps its shape. Keep buckles, rings and zips clear of the strands. Not one for heavy rain. Never machine wash.
Beads and cords (The Demilune, The Antibes)
Let the charm rest on top of the bag when it is put away, rather than trapped beneath it. Keep the pouch cords clear of jewellery that could snag them.
Hardware
Brushed gold and silver tone fittings like a soft dry cloth now and then. Nothing abrasive.
Storage
Empty it, stuff it lightly with tissue, and keep it somewhere dry, out of the sun, ideally in its pouch or a cotton bag. Not in plastic.
Repairs
Within 12 months, a fault in the making is ours to put right. After that, write to us anyway. We can usually point you to a good repairer or help with a part.
