ARVELLE began with a small irritation. Every bag we admired came with a markup we could not explain and a mystery we could not see through: the size in the photograph was never the size in the hand, the material had a new name every season, and the price ended in .99 while the copy talked about heritage.
So we made four bags and decided to tell the truth about them.
Four, not forty
A top handle in leather. A crescent with a knot and a handful of beads. A basket woven by hand. A mini in boardwalk stripes. Each comes in a few colours, and each was chosen because it will still make sense in five years. We would rather do four things properly than forty things by Friday.
Made properly
Finished by hand, checked by hand, wrapped by hand. Weaves are worked over a form until they hold their shape on their own. Hardware is chosen for the sound it makes when it closes. Nothing leaves us until someone has opened it, closed it, filled it and carried it across the room.
Described honestly
Every bag on this site is photographed at its true size and listed with its real measurements, its real weight where we have it, and its material in plain words. Where a bag is made of a leather look material, we say so. Where the strap will not reach a shoulder, we say that too. Priced properly
Our prices end in a five or a zero, and they stay where they are. There is no sale in the autumn, no code in the pop-up, no strikethrough. The price you see on the first day is the price, which means you never have to wonder whether to wait.
And then we get out of the way
Complimentary UK delivery. Thirty days to decide, with the return label on us. Twelve months of guarantee against faults in the making. A person who answers within a working day.
Quiet has a presence. We are simply trying to earn it.
