The Deauville is a mini open weave hobo in a bold graphic pattern, finished with a smooth flap, a snap that closes with a soft click, and a short handle that sits neatly in the hand. It is small on purpose: 26 centimetres wide, 18 high, which is a phone, cards, keys, a lipstick, and nothing you do not need.

It packs flat, fills with the day and looks deliberate with everything from linen to tailoring. Morning coffee, the long lunch, the early dinner. The stripe does the dressing up. You do the rest.

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For a mark on the weave, use a cloth that is barely damp, then let it dry naturally, away from heat. Keep it out of heavy rain, reshape it by hand and store it lightly stuffed between outings. Never machine wash.

Each Deauville is woven and finished by hand in a small workshop, one bag at a time. The weave is worked over a form so the shape holds, the flap is cut and stitched to it, and the handle is set by eye before the last stitch. Nothing leaves the bench until someone has opened it, closed it and heard that soft click. Slow to make. Quick to reach for.
